Together we stop desertification!

Do join us in building the Great Green Wall!

Executive producer Fernando Meirelles (director of Cidade de Deus and The Constant Gardener) and Malian singer Inna Modja take us on a journey along The Great Green Wall Initiative, a pan-African ambitious monster project to build a green barrier across the continent from west to east. An ambitious plan to plant an 8000-kilometre wall of trees that will stretch across the entire breadth of the African continent to contain the rapidly advancing Sahara, restore land and provide a future for millions of people.
Traversing Senegal, Mali, Nigeria, Niger and Ethiopia, Modja follows the burgeoning The Great Green Wall through Africa’s Sahel region – one of the most vulnerable places on earth (temperatures are rising 1.5 times faster than the global average) – and exposes the acute impacts of this accelerating climate change: increasing desertification, drought, resource scarcity, radicalisation, conflict and migration. With almost half of Sub-Saharan Africa’s 1 billion people under the age of 15 – a population that will more than double by 2050 – more than 60 million people are expected to flee. Although the film provides the basis for a cautionary tale about climate change, it is above all a refreshing story of optimism and resilience. Trailer

Since 2009, EwF has been planting forests in the Sahel (semi-arid regions)
Entrepreneurs Without Frontiers takes on the bitter struggle with the encroaching sand. We want to plant a few thousand hectares of forest every year in the Great Green Wall. Both in the northern Great Green Wall (from Senegal to Djibouti) and in the southern Great Green Wall (from Namibia to Mozambique). We also call on other TPOs (Tree Plant Organisations) to copy our example and join us in bringing this gigantic work to a successful result.

Jill Peeters will introduce the film (in Dutch) and give you the “vibes” why you should see this movie.

Online tickets for 8€ can be found here (50% of the revenues go to OZG to plant forests in the “Great Green Wall”).
Film is English spoken and Dutch subtitles.
